Secunda resident who wanted to buy a new meter box from Govan Mbeki Municipality sent from pillar to post for a whole day without getting any help.

When a meter box apparently burnt out and the cause was unknown, a woman reported it to Govan Mbeki Municipality who told her on arrival she had to buy a new box.

The woman went to the municipality in Secunda to buy a new box at the finance department on Friday, 5 May.

“I was told to get forms from the technical department situated at the fire station.”

The supervisor at this department sent her back to the finance department without the necessary forms.

The finance department sent her back to the technical department for the forms.

Looking at the long queues, the woman asked to go to either eMbalenhle or Kinross’s municipal offices.

She was referred to eMbalenhle where she was told the people who could help her, were at a wellness programme in Secunda and would only be available on the Monday.

“I decided to go to Kinross, but on my arrival there, I was sent back to the Secunda technical department.”

When she arrived there, she was told the supervisor was not available.”

The family spent the whole weekend without electricity.

The meter box was only installed on 11 May.
