Essential winter hacks for your health

Besides forcing us to stay warm indoors, winter brings with it an array of irritating illnesses. They creep in the air ready to attack vulnerable immune systems. They leave us down unable to fully function but with these life hacks, you are able to put up a fight.

 Stuffed nose?

Push your tongue against the top of your mouth. Push a finger between your eyebrows and hold it for about 20 seconds. Your nose should clear.

Sore throat?

Mix water, 2 Tbsp honey, 2 Tbsp vinegar, 2 Tbsp lemon juice and a dash of cinnamon. Mix them all together well and drink.

Cut a piece of cucumber to eat. It cools down your throat and stops the itching.

Cough keeping you up at night?

Rub some Vicks vapour rub on your feet and put on some socks before you go to sleep. This should alleviate your cough.

Pineapple juice is also known to be effective in keeping those coughs at bay. Pineapples contain bromelain, which can combat infections and eradicate bacteria.

Muscle and joint pain?

Cut up some fresh ginger, add warm water with some honey and drink. This can also help you with a sore throat.

Chest congested?

Steam a chopped up onion and stand close to the pot or pan while it is heating. The sulfuric acid will break up mucus and help you breathe better.
