Trichardt Police educate learners about bullying

Const Valancia Nkomo called on parents to always protect children.

TRICHARDT – Learners and kids from Tjebisa Primary School and Ebenezer Day Care Centre received educational toys and goodies from the local police.

The police visited the schools as part of Child Protection Week.

Child Protection Week is a time to shine a spotlight on issues facing young South Africans under the age of 18.

Const Valancia Nkomo, police spokesman, said children’s rights are included in the Bill of Rights.

“Children need special protection, because they are among the most vulnerable members of our society.

“They are dependent on others, their parents and families, for care and protection.

“It is important that we all unite and protect our children.”

The learners were taught about various crimes, including bullying and avoiding speaking to strangers.
