TRICHARDT – A fundraising event in aid of sports teams was held at Multilink Conference Centre in Trichardt on Saturday, 16 June.

The teams to benefit from the event, are the Sasol women’s hockey team and the U/11 and first cricket teams of Laerskool Trichardt.

The hockey team wanted to raise money to buy a new kit for the players and to help with petrol for travelling to matches.

“We are a very new team and some of the women do not have the necessary kits.

“We compete in the Mpumalanga league which means that we have to travel to eMalahleni every weekend to take part in matches,” said Ms Liza-Marie Meyer, the coach.

Mr Johan Prinsloo from Laerskool Trichardt said they needed money to help sponsor learners for a cricket tour to Port Elizabeth from 24 to 30 June.

They also hope to build a room at the school for the first cricket team.

The event at Multilink included fun activities, such as a fancy dress, dancing, and playing pool.
