Vusimuzi sentenced to five years imprisonment, 13 years after he committed the crime

BETHAL – Vusimuzi Zikalala has been sentenced to five years imprisonment, 13 years after he committed the crime.

He was arrested in 2006 for culpable homicide. His trial began in 2011. He however skipped bail and failed to attend his trial.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Bethal Magistrate’s Court.

The investigating officer, Det Const Elias Mona, worked tirelessly to find Zikalala.

He was eventually arrested at his work in Gauteng in July.

He pleaded guilty to culpable homicide. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The Station Commander, Lt Col Petrus Nzima, welcomed the sentencing and applauded the investigating officer for securing the conviction.
