Suspects inject a woman then rape her in Cow Village

eMZINONI – Capt Fanie Viviers, station commander of eMzonini Police Station, has raised his concerns about the increase of rape in the area.

This came after several rape cases were reported to police and it is believed that most of the incidents emanates from taverns.

He advised taverns owners to adhere to the regulated business hours.

He said police are working around the clock to ensure that taverns adhere to the law.

Const Cynthia Mtsweni, police spokesman, said:

“Most of the cases happen when people are coming from these taverns.

“We are calling on women to avoid travelling alone at night especially when they are intoxicated.

“We advise them to always travel in groups and to remain indoors during the night hours.”

She also warned women not to open doors whenever a stranger knocks.

She said that in one of the rape incidents, a woman was in her house when three men knocked and she opened for them.

It is alleged that the men entered the house and injected her.

They allegedly raped her.

Police are investigating and no one has been arrested yet.
