Three face murder charges

HIGHVELD – A 32-year-old woman is facing a conspiracy to commit murder charge after the death of Mr Rofhiwa Tshifhango .

This came after three men and a woman were arrested on 29 and 31 December 2016 respectively.

They were arrested in Kriel in connection with the murder of a government employee, as well as attempted murder of another person.

The two victims, Messrs Tshifhango (38) and his colleague, Mandla Mahlangu (32), both employed by the local Department of Public Works,

were allegedly accosted by the men and taken to the Spitzkop farm on 29 November.

Mr Tshifhango was allegedly strangled to death.

They were discovered on the farm that is approximately nine kilometres from Ermelo..

Mr Tshifhango was dead and Mr Mahlangu survived the tragedy however is still in hospital.

It is alleged that the victims had been at Mr Tshifhango’s house in Ermelo the previous evening when they were confronted by the suspects.

Both men were assaulted and the house was ransacked, before they were forced into the back of Mr Tshifhango’s Audi A4, which was later found deserted approximately five kilometres away from the farm where the victims were discovered.

A meticulous investigation by the police led to the arrest of the trio in Kriel on 29 December.

Items believed to have been stolen from the house of the deceased were found in their possession.

The investigation team also discovered that one of the suspects had been arrested in Bethal on 3 December for being found in possession of a presumably stolen vehicle as well as an illegal firearm.

During the investigation, a dramatic twist in the events took place when the 32-year-old woman believed to have been the partner of the deceased with whom she has two children, was also arrested on 31 December.

The woman is facing a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

According to a short probe, it surfaced that she was the alleged mastermind behind the death of Mr Tshifhango.

The suspects appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court and are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.

The dedication by the investigation team is commended by the police management in the province.
