Secunda Police celebrate festive season successes

SECUNDA – The station commander of Secunda Police Station, Col G. W. Nel, said though there were a number of incidents reported between 24 and 31 December, the biggest concern for the Secunda Police was the increase in property-related crime and housebreaking in particular.

According to W/O Gamede, communications officer of the station, investigating these burglaries are a priority for the police

“The office of the station commander has therefore initiated an action plan based on crime prevention strategies and operational planning via crime intelligence driven operations that could be effective in curbing these types of crimes.”

Several arrests were also made during the festive season.

Suspects were arrested on suspicion of various crimes, including housebreaking and suspected possession of stolen items.

Col Nel voiced his appreciation for the work done by the uniformed officers, the detectives and the various specialised units within the police force.

“Continued pro-active policing and cooperation between police and the public will lead to further arrests and make our community safer in general.”

Residents are once again urged to contact the police with any information that will lead to the arrests, and to report any suspicious activity as soon as they become aware of it.
