Eskom Expo creates a platform for scientific development

Talitha Kruger, from Hoërskool Secunda researched the causes of bullying in school.

Eskom hosted their Expo for Young Scientists at the Lillian Ngoyi Stadium in Secunda.

This Expo, which is open to pupils of all ages, starts off with local and regional tryouts and those participants who do well get the opportunity to take part in the national finals later in the year.

Learners from as far as eMalahleni came to Secunda to face the judges and exhibit their projects.

Each project was presented by one or two pupils from a school, and they were excited to explain their work to anyone who would listen.

From research into the causes of bullying, to solutions for green energy and good sport nutrition, it was clear that the learners enjoyed their time at the Expo.

The Expo also provides a platform for some of the older learners to speak to representatives of industries and research institutions and get a good feel for what it would be like to work in a particular scientific field.
